Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 Review – A Gaming Laptop

Asus has been the booming brand when it comes to the laptop it has made in the last few years. The latest Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 popped up in CES 2019 first which caught everyone’s attention- thanks to its slim and light design. The product has pure gaming hardware which was expected in the Zephyrus products. The Zephyrus products have been bringing powerful products without being big and thick.

With the new Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics with the Max-Q design, an 8th generation Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor and up to 24GB of RAM, Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 is a monster product.  Is this Asus product a revolutionary device which can challenge Ultrabooks too? Let’s check in the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 review below:

    Design and Screen

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 looks thin and feels light being the gaming laptop. Though there have been many gaming laptops in the market which look bigger, this one is an exception. The ROG Zephyrus S GX701 comes with a 17-inch display and measures like this- 399 x 272 x 18.7mm which makes it 23% smaller and 40% thinner than other 17-inch gaming laptops. If you compare it with the Asus ROG Zephyrus GX501-the older generation Zephyrus laptop with a 15.6-inch screen, this device is slightly bigger. But, keeping the fact that this has a larger screen, it is a wonderful achievement by the company. The screen-to-body ratio is now 81% which means the bezels are thin and screen space more.

Asus has removed the built-in webcam above the screen. You can use an external webcam to do Skype or video chats. The keyboard goes little deep where the trackpad should be. It is a unique and weird work done by the company. The above space between display and keyboard has Zephyrus S GX701’s ROG Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) to keep the device main components cool.

You can get large enough keys to type on the keyboard with Asus’s Aura RGB lighting. You also get a small scroll wheel at the top of the keyboard to control the volume which is highlighted by the RGB LEDs too.

On the left side, you can see space for the power connection, an HDMI 2.0b port, a standard USB 3.1 port, a USB 3.1 Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 and power delivery and a 3.5mm audio jack while on the right, there is a USB 3.1 Type-C and two standard USB 3.1 ports.

You get a pretty large display with a 144Hz refresh rate which means that the brand has worked on its display too much- perfect for the gaming experience. The G-Sync technology integrated into it prevents screen tearing too.

Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 comes with high-end components especially the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q design. With the Max-Q design, the power consumption is reduced and GPU is easily placed in thinner laptops. Though the RTX 2080 Max-Q isn’t as powerful as the RTX 2080, it is still worth it in terms of gaming performance.

Due to the 1080p screen, you get to experience the better side of gaming- thanks to the RTX 2080 Max-Q. Gaming experience is quite smooth and fun even when the fps was above 60. Switching the ROG Armoury Crate software on, you can generate more power for the laptop’s components.

The speakers are loud and fill the room with quite a nice sound. The built-in speakers are really loud and clear- so you don’t need to plug in external ones.

    Battery life

Like in every gaming laptop, GX701 also gives you a couple of hours when not plugged in with charge. On the 1080p video loop test and screen brightness set to 50%, the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 gives you around three hours of power.

So, try not to unplug the device. Although Asus has brought in some features to prolong the battery life like On Battery mode and Nvidia’s Optimus Mode. You can find some of best devises which is long life battery with high capacity by choosing available Snapdeal Promo Codes.

The all-new Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 is one of the best gaming laptops in the market right now. It is thin and light breaking all the stereotypes of the gaming laptops. The 17-inch screen gets a 1080p resolution which is really nice, the GPU is fast and powerful and so is the device.

Though there is no ethernet port in the device and this device costs too much, still it is the most unique one out of all gaming laptops.
