When someone searches “plumber near me” or “joinery Brisbane”, Google often shows a map with a handful of businesses before any normal results. Google says local results are mainly based on three things: relevance, distance and prominence. You can’t move your address closer to every customer, but you can make it clear what you do, where you do it and why people trust you. That is what local SEO is really about.
Our local SEO work starts with your Google Business Profile, because that’s what powers your appearance on Maps. We make sure your categories, services, service areas, hours and photos are complete and accurate, and that your business details match everywhere they appear online. Then we build location and service pages that genuinely help local customers, not near-identical suburb pages that Google treats as doorway pages. We help you earn more genuine reviews, add LocalBusiness structured data to your site, and track calls, direction requests and enquiries from local search every month. Google says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking, and that includes the map results. What we promise is careful work and honest reporting.
Request a Free Local AuditLocal search works differently from normal search. Your Business Profile, your reviews, your website and your mentions around the web all shape whether you appear in the map results. Here's how we cover each one, based on Google's own guidance.
Your Google Business Profile is the heart of local SEO. We verify and complete every section that matters: primary and secondary categories, services, service areas, opening hours, attributes, photos and your business description. We use your real business name without added keywords, because stuffing keywords into the name breaks Google's Business Profile guidelines and can get a listing suspended. Then we keep it active with regular updates, fresh photos and answers to common questions.
If you serve several suburbs or cities, a page for each can help, but only when every page is genuinely useful. We build location pages around real local detail: jobs you've done in that area, local reviews, service coverage and practical information. Google's spam policies treat near-identical pages that only swap the suburb name as doorway pages, so we'd rather build five strong pages than fifty thin ones.
Reviews influence both whether you appear in local results and whether people choose you when you do. We set up a simple, repeatable way to ask happy customers for Google reviews at the right moment, and help you reply to every review, including the negative ones, in a way that builds trust with the next person reading. We never buy reviews, write fake ones or offer incentives for them. Google's policies prohibit it, and in many countries, including Australia, the UK and the US, fake reviews breach consumer law. Real reviews take longer, but they last.
Your website supports your map ranking. We make sure your homepage and service pages clearly say what you do and where, show your business name, address and phone number the same way as your Business Profile, and load quickly on mobile, where most local searches happen. We add LocalBusiness structured data with your correct address, hours and contact details, and link your pages so Google understands how your services and service areas relate. Small changes here often make your profile more relevant for the searches that matter to you.
Prominence comes partly from how often and how well your business is mentioned elsewhere. We fix inconsistent listings in the directories that matter in your country, and earn local mentions and links through real relationships: suppliers, industry bodies, local media and community sponsorships. No bulk directory submissions, ever.
Our local SEO audit shows you exactly why competitors appear above you in the map results. We review your Google Business Profile for missing or incorrect details, check how consistently your business is listed across the web, compare your reviews with the top businesses in your area, and check whether your website clearly supports the locations and services you want to be found for. You'll get a prioritised list of fixes, most important first, in plain English.

Local searches often come from people who need something soon: a repair today, a quote this week, a shop that's open now. When your business appears in the map results, they can call you, get directions or visit your website in one tap. That makes local SEO one of the most direct ways to turn search into real enquiries. We track those actions in your Business Profile performance data and your website analytics, so you can see the calls and enquiries local search brings, not just the rankings.
For many local searches, the map results sit above the regular results on the page. Being there puts your name, reviews, hours and phone number in front of customers before they see a single website. Local SEO is how you earn that spot. There's no way to pay for a place in the organic map results, so every business earns its position through relevance, distance and prominence.
Local search rewards being relevant and trusted in your area, not just having the biggest brand. A well-run local business with a complete profile, strong reviews and helpful service pages can appear above national chains for searches in its own suburbs. Focusing on the areas you serve best usually works better than trying to rank everywhere at once. Solar business in melbourne moved into the map results within 20 days. Local SEO helps you pick your battles and win them.
Before someone calls a local business, they check its reviews, photos and how it responds to feedback. A complete, active Business Profile with genuine reviews and thoughtful replies does a lot of the selling before the first conversation. Local SEO makes sure that first impression is accurate and up to date: the right hours, the right services, recent photos and real feedback from real customers. We never mark up your own reviews as star ratings on your own website, because Google's review snippet guidelines don't allow self-serving reviews, and misleading stars damage trust faster than they build it.
Every genuine review, every accurate listing and every helpful location page keeps working for you after it's done. Local SEO isn't set-and-forget, because competitors keep improving and Google keeps refining its results. But the foundations we build, a complete profile, a steady flow of reviews and a website that clearly supports your service areas, keep bringing enquiries long after the initial work. Compared with paying for every click on ads, it's a far more sustainable way to keep your phone ringing, and it builds an asset your business owns.
Every local market is different, so we don't start with a package. We start with your Business Profile, your website data and the businesses currently appearing above you. You'll know what we're doing, why, and what we expect it to change before work begins, and you'll work directly with the people doing the work. No guaranteed rankings, just clear work.
Talk to Our TeamWe review your Business Profile, Search Console and Analytics, check your listings across the web, and compare your profile and reviews with the businesses ranking above you in the map results. This usually takes one to two weeks.
We decide which services and service areas matter most, map each one to the right page, and agree priorities with you. This stops your own pages competing with each other and focuses effort on the searches most likely to bring calls. Nothing changes on your profile or website until you approve it.
We complete and correct your Business Profile first and fix inconsistent listings. Then we improve your key service and location pages and add LocalBusiness structured data. Every change is checked before it goes live. You'll see a before-and-after for each.
Each month we post profile updates, grow reviews, earn local mentions and improve pages. Your report shows calls, direction requests and enquiries from local search, plus what's next. We review priorities with you monthly.

Rankings are only useful if the phone rings. We track calls, direction requests and website clicks from your Business Profile, alongside form enquiries and organic traffic in Google Analytics and Search Console. When your map visibility rises but enquiries don’t follow, we look at why: the wrong categories, weak reviews, or a page that doesn’t answer what local customers need. Every recommendation is tied to a clear reason, so you can always see how our local SEO work connects to your bottom line.
We won’t take on a business that competes directly with yours for the same services in the same area while we’re working together. Your local strategy, review approach and growth plans stay with you. If a potential client would put us in that position, we tell them up front and step back.
We work on local visibility for service businesses every week, including trades, builders and specialist suppliers. For a joinery business in Adelaide, we completed their Business Profile and rebuilt their service pages, and calls from Google grew 112% over 3 month. That experience means we know which fixes actually bring enquiries.
Everything we report comes from accounts you own: your Google Business Profile, Search Console and Google Analytics. We never create your Business Profile under our own account, so you never risk losing control of your listing. You’ll see exactly what we changed each month and why, what worked and what didn’t. If something isn’t working, we’ll say so and explain what we’re changing. Reports are written in plain English, with the numbers explained rather than just exported. And if you move on, your profile, data and content stay with you.
Because we also run Google Ads and build websites, we can join the dots between channels. Ads data shows which local searches actually bring calls, which shapes your local SEO priorities. And if a page needs design or development work, we handle it without passing you between agencies. One team, one plan and one monthly report covering every channel we manage for you.
Local demand shifts with the seasons: air conditioning in summer, heating and roofing before winter, landscaping in spring. We use Google Trends and your own enquiry history to plan profile posts, page updates and review requests ahead of your busy periods, not in the middle of them. If you expand into new suburbs or cities, we plan those pages and profile changes carefully, so growth doesn’t dilute the areas you already rank in.
Share your website, your service area and your biggest challenge. We'll reply with honest next steps, even if that isn't hiring us.

Straight answers to the local SEO questions we hear most, based on our experience and on what Google's own Search Central documentation and Business Profile guidelines say.
How long does local SEO take?
It depends on your competition, how complete your profile already is and how many genuine reviews you have compared with nearby businesses. Fixing profile details and listings can make a difference within weeks, once Google has processed the changes. Building reviews and local authority takes longer and keeps paying off over months. After your audit, we’ll give you a realistic view for your area, plus early signs to watch, like profile views and direction requests, so you can see local SEO progress before enquiries fully catch up.
Do I need a separate page for every suburb I serve?
Not necessarily. A page for each location can help when each page has genuinely useful, specific content, such as projects in that area, local reviews and details about the service there. Pages that only swap the suburb name are what Google’s spam policies call doorway pages, and they can hurt more than help. We usually recommend strong pages for your main service areas, with nearby suburbs covered naturally within them, and add new pages only when there’s something real to say.
I don't have a shopfront. Can I still show up on Google Maps?
Yes. Service-area businesses, like trades that travel to customers, can set up a Business Profile with service areas instead of a public address. Google’s guidelines say you should hide your address if you don’t serve customers there. Using a virtual office or someone else’s address to appear in more places breaks those guidelines and risks suspension. We set up your service areas properly, so you can appear for the places you actually cover, built on accurate information.
Why does my competitor rank higher on Maps with fewer reviews?
Reviews are only one part of it. Google says local results are based on relevance, distance and prominence, so a competitor may simply be closer to the person searching, use more accurate categories, or have a website that more clearly matches the search. Prominence also covers how well known a business is across the web, not just review count. Our local SEO audit compares your profile, categories, listings and website with theirs, so you can see the real gap instead of guessing.
Can you guarantee a spot in the top map results?
No, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. Google states that no one can guarantee a top ranking, and you can’t pay for a place in the organic map results. Distance to the searcher also changes results from one street to the next. What we can promise is local SEO work that follows Google’s guidelines, a complete and accurate Business Profile, and honest monthly reporting from your own accounts, so you can see exactly how your visibility and enquiries are changing.
